Intra oral shots:
Set the camera to “M” on the mode dial, then use these settings for the shutter speed, aperture, and the Flash.
Shot Type Shutter Speed Aperture Flash Setting
Smile shot 160 F32 1/4
Occlusal shot 160 F32 1/4
Buccal shot 160 F45 1/4
Very close shots
(two centrals)
160 F25 1/32
Portrait shots 160 F13 M

A very easy way to adjust for lighter or darker shots, is to move the aperture. If you go to a higher number, it will make it darker. If the image is too dark, lower the F-stop number to make the image lighter.

The other way to adjust for lighter and darker shots is to adjust the shutter speed. To make the image lighter, go to a lower shutter speed (lower number). You should not go slower than 1/60 sec. Do not go to a higher shutter speed than 1/160 sec.

The flash can also be adjusted for lighter and darker shots by decreasing and increasing the power(1/32, 1/4, M) --- do not use the TTL setting.

I like to manually focus when close up. The switch between autofocus and manual focus is right on the lens barrel Autofocus does work well with this camera, this is a personal preference.
